Blue Tree Gallery's Four Seasons Package comes with 4 individual calligraphy characters, one to represent each season. The 4 characters are used interchangeably by slipping them into the baseboard frame. This allows you to change the calligraphy design you display in your frame.
The idea of changing the calligraphy design you display comes from Japanese tea houses and other traditional Japanese establishments where it is customary to switch designs according to the season.
Product Description:
Our Four Seasons calligraphies are drawn on traditional Japanese calligraphy boards, called shikishi. Shikishi is a rice paper board, typically edged with a fine strip of gold paper. The shikishi board slips into an elegant shikishi frame, matted with a customary gilt floral pattern. The shikishi board is appx. 4-3/4 inches by 5-3/8 inches, and the shikishi frame is appx. 7-3/4 inches by 8-1/2 inches.
