Like our Perfect Gift calligraphies, our Standard Custom calligraphies are drawn on traditional Japanese calligraphy boards, called shikishi. Shikishi is a rice paper board, typically edged with a fine strip of gold paper. The shikishi board slips into an elegant shikishi frame, matted with a customary gilt floral pattern. The materials we use for our Standard Custom package are much larger than those we use for our Perfect Gift Package. The shikishi board is appx. 9-1/2 inches by 10-3/4 inches, and the shikishi frame is appx. 13-1/4 inches by 15-1/4 inches.

This calligraphy exudes tranquility. It was made for a yoga/meditation room.

| These Special Custom pieces were drawn on delicate rice paper embellished with a subtle gold floral and leaf design. When the calligraphy brush with sumi ink touches the lightweight paper, it causes a slight wrinkling effect as you can detect in the pieces below. Our Special Custom calligraphies are framed in handsome 12-inch by 16-inch wooden frames with high-quality acid free matting.

EXAMPLE 1: Lenny
This design was a special gift from a martial arts student to her master. It is a phonetic Kanji representation of the name "Lenny". "Le" means gratitude, politeness and respect; "Ni" is sincerity and compassion.

EXAMPLE 2: Susie
This phonetic rendition of the name Susie was designed as a personal gift for a close friend. The kanji "Su" means precious. "Ji" is nourishing or cherishing. Doesn't it sound like a perfect description of Susie?

EXAMPLE 3: Seaside, OR
Roman alphabets can be rendered in this type of calligraphy as well. This was a house warming gift to a friend who bought a house in the city of Seaside, OR.
