| Basho Haiku |

|
This Haiku was made during Basho's last trip when he was 51 years old. He was held up in a place call Shimada due to a flooded river. The bamboo trees probably drooped because of the heavy rain, but Basho's poem anticipates that the bamboo trees are waiting for the coming snowfall.
