| Basho Haiku |
BACK
|
It is said that Basho wrote this haiku upon request for a tea house owner, named Shirouzaemon, in 1694. Pine is matsu, and wind is kaze. Matsukaze simply means "wind going through pine woods," but it stirs up a rather melancholic feeling in this autumn evening scene.
