About the Artist
Calligraphy Master, Keiko Oba
Calligraphy has been an integral part of Ms. Oba's life since she began studying at the young age of 8. She has had the privilege of learning and developing her art through many respected calligraphy masters over the years, and is herself a certified master calligrapher. Ms. Oba's personal style reflects a sophisticated beauty and warmth. She strives to create art that brings a sense of purity and nature to a room similar to a carefully arranged vase of flowers.

Shodo or "the way of calligraphy" is a traditional form of writing and a beautiful art with a rich cultural history. However, very few people still write using brush and sumi-ink. In fact, so many people use personal computers as their primary communication tool, that hand written communication is becoming increasingly rare. All of these changes make sho-do even more special, and many people are rediscovering this traditional art form. Letters drawn with a brush express something that type fonts simply do not. We are pleased to introduce our authentic sho pieces, created in Japan, and brought to you exclusively through Blue Tree Gallery. We hope you will enjoy the experience of this wonderful art.
